Falmouth Spring Festival 2012

Following the success of 2011, Falmouth Spring Festival will be taking place again on 17th - 25th March 2012.

In preparation for the start of Spring Festival week, Falmouth traders' windows will be transformed into brightly coloured window displays with 3,000 daffodils donated by local daffodil farms.

Then, over the course of the week, there is something for everyone. For gardening enthusiasts with questions for the experts, we have Gardeners' Question Time at the National Maritime Museum (entry £2.50) and the Princess Pavilion has a number of talks taking place. Ron Scamp, famous for his daffodils, will be welcoming a limited number of visitors to his farm for a guided tour, with all donations going to a local charity. For the more active amongst you, there are a number of ways to get involved with the Spring Festival this year, including Run Falmouth, cycle rides and the Zumba Zestival, which will attempt to be the biggest outdoor Zumba event in Cornwall.

You can find the full programme here.

Run Falmouth - a brand new half marathon event in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care. Starting and finishing at The Moor, the route takes in Gyllyngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth beaches before heading inland to Mawnan Smith and Budock Water finally turning back through Penryn and along the waterfront again as you head into the town. But if 13.1 miles sounds a bit daunting,  why not take part as a relay team of 2 or 4 so you can share the miles but still be a part of Run Falmouth. Alternatively, take part in the Fun Run which is open to all ages and abilities with a 1.5 mile route.
