The Outdoor Screenings Season 2011
Building on our experience of delivering outdoor screenings with Film on the Fal and at Porthcurno, we held a season of screenings during 2011 at a variety of venues throughout Cornwall. Film on the Fal was also voted the Best Small Event at the recent UK Event Awards, and won the Bronze award at the Eventia Awards.
A successful season of 8 screenings drew to a close on Saturday, with Point Break up on the stunning headland at Godrevy.
From May until September, we have showcased cult films in unique locations around Cornwall, in a season designed to embrace the atmosphere of each unique site.
By working with our partners across the county, including English Heritage, Newquay Cornwall Airport, SkyBus, The National Trust, Adrenalin Quarry and King Harrys Cornwall, we've been able to deliver a variety of fantastic events for over a 1000 people throughout the year.
Highlights included the fantastic Top Gun at Newquay Cornwall Airport, which saw the Skybus hangar transformed into a cinema for one night only, and the atmospheric (and particularly damp) screening of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves at Pendennis Castle. Now in its third year, Film on the Fal was once again a popular event, with audiences wrapping up warm under the stars for a night on the water to watch The Abyss and Master and Commander.
The guys from Nomad Bars provided much needed refreshment at each of the screenings, with beers, wine and a range of tasty hot drinks to keep the audiences warm!
The Outdoor Screenings Season wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our supporters, which include MPAD and Cornwall Wildlife Trust, and we would like to thank them for their support in making the screenings happen.
Plans are already afoot for next year's season, and we want to hear from you! We're looking for more cult films in even more unique locations - so please email amy@eventcornwall.co.uk with your ideas.
Thanks to everyone that attended The Outdoor Screenings Season 2011, and we look forward to seeing you next year.
