Our Services

Volunteering

We want to build a pool of fantastic people to support our community events programme including Art in the City, Film on the Fal, MusicTruro, City of Lights and Cornwall Film Festival.  The events are operated on a not for profit basis and are designed to be fun, creative and ambitious to achieve strategic community-focused aims.

Volunteers are vital to our events to provide health & safety marshalling, reception services, box office, customer information and bar staffing.

Our volunteers are not on work experience but we do offer one day of (free) training for volunteers in event safety, child protection and customer service. Volunteers will work alongside WEX (work experience staff) and company staff to deliver the events and tasks will be allocated according to individual interests and strengths.

We commit to providing volunteers with relevant event information in advance of the event together with the materials needed to do the job e.g. hi-vis waistcoats.  There will always be a staff briefing before each event and, where appropriate, food/drink will be provided.

We ask our volunteers to attending the training and to commit to working on at least 2 events per year and in return there are benefits!  For each event that a volunteer undertakes, they receive an entry into our Volunteers Prize Draw which will include prizes such as tickets for performances, wine, chocolates and activities and of course, you’ll get that fuzzy warm feeling that comes from doing something to help your community.

Of course, beyond the wine and chocolates, volunteering can make a positive impact on your life too. It can build your confidence, help you face new challenges, teach you new skills. You may make new friends, professional contacts and become part of a community that can stay in touch long after your work is done. You may be able to road test a new career or gain experience in a field that you want to work in or with a company you are keen to get to know. And last, but by no means least, you may have a great time! Not every volunteer experience is the same, but by finding an opportunity that matches your interests, you have a good chance of having fun while making a difference.

If you are interested in becoming an Event Cornwall volunteer, please contact Sammy Mudhar on sammy@Eventcornwall.co.uk for the relevant forms and information.

The next training session will be on Saturday 2nd October at the Event Cornwall offices in Truro. If you are attending this session, please be aware that the office is on the second floor and there is no lift.  If this is not appropriate for the group, an alternative venue will be sourced.
