Case Study - Totally Truro

Music Truro - Cabaret at the Cat

We have worked with Totally Truro, Truro's business improvement district, for the last 3 years to develop a creative, appropriate and economically-stimulating events programme.

Working within very tight budgets, requiring us to develop many partnerships in order to gain impact and scope for the events programme, we have evolved a programme that increases footfall through the city, increases turnover of businesses and promotes the city as a fantastic place to live, work and play.

This programme features self-generated festivals such as Music Truro and Art in the City as well as networking in with and supporting existing events such as City of Lights and the Respect Festival.  In partnership with Totally Truro, we have developed the festival plans, their ongoing business strategies, the network of suppliers and partners and the whole event development process.

This partnership is a mutually supportive one where both partners bring core skills and expertise, tailored to the needs of each project, to make each event work to achieve its objectives.  With the additional input from MPAD and Graeme & Rust, we have created a sustainable, partner-led approach to economic development within Truro which works with the overarching strategies of Truro City Council and Cornwall Council.

"As our partnership has evolved with Event Cornwall, we have been able to develop a programme of new, exciting and ambitious events that are succeeding in attracting growing audiences. These include annual Music Festivals (including the staging of Truro's first drive-in movie), Art Festivals and Christmas Festivals. I also work alongside Claire in supporting other events such as the prestigious City of Lights and BBC Blast. When we first met, Claire was embarking on the first tentative steps as a full-time, self-employed Events Manager and the current scope and success of Event Cornwall entirely reflects her vision, drive and adaptability to new situations. I have seen Claire in action developing detailed event plans and then leading from the front right in the thick of the actual events. Her clear thinking and leadership, coupled with her skills in enthusing and motivating others is a constant inspiration to those around her."
